When I spotted this flower bouquet in the Sunnyside Up fabric collection I fell in love. It was so lovely that I found myself wanting to frame it and put it on display! I decided to do just that by framing the fabric in an embroidery hoop. Wood embroidery hoops are a fun and easy way to display fabric and hand-stitching. In addition to the hoop frame, I chose to embellish the fabric with buttons from this month’s collection and a few of my favorite (and easy) embroidery stitches to add more detail and dimension.
One of my favorite things about making handmade projects is being able to give and receive things made with love. When I am making a gift for someone I often find that I am thinking about that person as I work. I like to think that there is a bit of love and care for that person in each and every stitch. This month I made this pillow as a gift for my mom on her birthday. I chose the C for her name. I chose colors and patterns that she would love. She was so thrilled when I gave it to her! I hope that each time she looks at it she will feel the love and thought that went into it.
We simply could not have picked a better fabric for this month’s SHINE button box. Sunnyside Up by Corey Yoder is very simply “sunshine” in fabric form. Each print in the collection is full of bright and cheerful colors and sweet blooms. The collection perfectly compliments the handmade meadow flowers and ivy leaf buttons that are debuting in this month’s box! Speaking of sunshine, this month’s hand-dyed buttons are exclusive colors Buttercup and Thistle. Buttercup is just the perfect shade of sunshine…making it the perfect partner for this month’s button appliqué shape.
