Seed catalogs are starting to arrive in the mail and it has us dreaming of spending time in our gardens. These spring daydreams inspired us to create something fun to share with you, the Pot Full of Posies pincushion. It is a fun and easy project to craft while you wait for spring to arrive. Add in a few sweet hearts and you have a fun creation for Valentine’s Day too! And even more fun, the Pot Full of Posies pattern is free with the purchase of our new Love Mini Pin-mini set! (More details and a link to purchase below.)
In our latest episode of JABC Stitch School we showed you how to make a Felty Swirl and mentioned that Felty Swirls were especially fun displayed in flower pots. We just had to make one to show you! So cute, right? It makes the perfect setting for a little garden of wool posies!
Our Pot Full of Posies pincushion is so fun to make! Start with a Felty Swirl in a clay pot. Make wool or felt posies, leaves, and hearts to plant in your garden. Add buttons and embroidery stitches to each one for an extra touch. The leaves even have wire hidden in them so that you can bend and shape your leaves. Add posies to your garden by “planting” them in between the wool layers of the Felty Swirl.
(We used Week’s Dye Works felted wool for our posies and Felty Swirl.)
The final touch for any garden are the plant markers showing what you’ve sown there. Mark your wool garden with our Love Mini Pin-Mini set!
Best of all, when you purchase the Love Mini Pin-Mini set, you will get the Pot Full of Posies pattern free! Simply purchase the pin pack and we will include the printed pattern with your order!
We hope you will enjoy making your own Pot Full of Posies!
